Trip & Convoy Rules

Things to remember when out and about with the club.

General Trip Rules

  • Any dangerous action that is liable to cause injury to people or harm to property should be stopped immediately. SAFETY MUST PREVAIL OVER ALL ELSE
  • Respect for landowners property is essential –Any actions which may damage a landowners property puts at risk the clubs future access to private land.
  • Alcohol is only permitted to be consumed after the day’s driving is over such as when vehicles have returned to camp. Alcohol on day trips is not encouraged unless a specific function has been organised.
  • No Rubbish should be left behind – if it was carried in, carry it out.
  • No Fire Arms should be taken on a trip without the express permission of the land owner and prior approval from the club.
  • No dogs should be taken on a trip without the express permission of the land owner
  • All participants shall act in a manner befitting the club. Breaches of this rule or others may bring disciplinary action as per the constitution.
  • If at any time, a member deliberately breaches  safety rules, or a vehicle is rendered unsafe to proceed further, the trip leader may, in consultation with other members on the trip, require that member to park the vehicle or leave the trip (providing this is the safest course of action , taking all factors into consideration).

Convoy Rules

On many trips, vehicles tend to travel in convoy and unless some care is taken it is easy to have this group stray over a large area making communication almost impossible. For this reason and to ensure all vehicles are safe it is important that the following rules be carefully followed.

  • On club trips ALWAYS keep the vehicle behind you in sight. If you lose touch with it STOP and wait for it to catch up    -(This applies while on or off road)
  • Ensure that if you come to an intersection or anywhere that the track is ambiguous. STOP until the vehicle behind can clearly determine the direction the convoy is heading..
  • All Gates MUST be left as found. Two methods are acceptable for achieving this:
    • Trip leader and tail ender are in Radio communication re gate closures.
    • At a closed gate, the vehicle immediately behind the leader should pull over to the side and wait for vehicles to pass through, then fall in ahead of the tail ender after closing the gate.
